Hi all,
I've managed to acquire a partially built Purbeck ASW27 (who says WhatsApp and lightning responses to social media is bad for you?! )
I have a question about the Leading edges: What's the correct profile? These look *very* sharp!

That is a little too sharp for sure! See picture of my leading edges. A blunt leading edge tolerates a wider envelope of angle of attack and helps keep flow attached to the wing surface with less drag.
I would suggest he cut the covering back about a inch (25.4 mm) top and bottom and sand it back about an 1/8”(3.175 mm) and round it from there and recover.

Hi everybody,Been a little poorly of late,not flown for 3years,or even kept up with the goings on on SSUK. Barry C. emailed me and asked me to look at this post and perhaps comment on it,so:-The section we used for the ASW27 was a thickened RG15.The template can be obtained by traceing the wing profile on the fuselage which is near as damit the same as the wing root should be, Barrys mates shown in the photo is near perfect. Flown as your photo shows, it would be quite noticable that both pitch control and stall characteristic would be serverely impared especially at slow landing speeds with high angles of attack ect.I would definately alter the wing section just as Barry has suggested. The model is worth that little work to the leadin edge as it will make it a vice free model when completed. Let us all know how you get on and how she flies in the end. regards Terry

The 'old "If it looks right, it'll fly right" popped into my mind: this didn't look right.
I'll sharpen the plane to make a better wing for the plane
I'll certainly get some pics etc once it flies.
