A strip of 0.8mm play, grain crosswise, is ideal for applying filler to the shape of the fuselage, with a reduced need for sanding...
Then it's time to remove the temporary formers

The tailplane is a simple slab affair from 6mm balsa... The 1.5mm slots for the elevator ribs can be quickly cut with two hacksaw blades glued together...

Fitting the tailplane bolt and setting up the elevator pushrod...

Now the fin & rudder can be put together... The fin is covered with 0.8mm ply in order to form a neat shroud for the rudder...

I find it's always best to make up the fin/rudder assembly first, before fitting it to the fuselage...

Now the rear end can be closed off once the rudder cable guides have been installed...
