I have recently described flying these smaller models as 'as much fun as you can have standing up' which is why I am proceeding with this one. As with the previous Kite 1, the fuselage will be sheeted with balsa and the spray gun given a miss. (Aaaah)
The fuz is of the usual half-shell method, starting with the starboard side... Once the formers have been added, 5mm sq balsa strips are fitted between them to increase the glueing area for the eventual sheeting...

Left and Right is best and easy to remember. Hold your hands out palms down. Your right hand is the one with the thumb on the left, and your left hand is the one the thumb on the right. Simples....

MEANWHILE...
The planking on the off-side fuselage half (everyone knows that Skylarks are left-hand drive) is made up from 2.5mm balsa sheet planks, and because it's balsa, this is quite a quick process as you can PVA them lengthwise and then CA them on to the formers...
The rear of the fuz is sheeted with 1.5mm balsa for which a copious amount of card templates are needed...

Once enough sheeting has been added the half-shell can be removed from the board and the process repeated for the other side..

Rog, I've chosen to represent the early version with the smaller canopy (Like the Skylark 1): I'm not sure any of those are still around?
