Does everyone out there use an "off the shelf"manufactured tow release or do you make your own? there must be various ways of creating such a thing but does anyone have a simple tried and tested method that works well?

The Multiplex ones are as good as anything.

Thanks for that Barry, I'm quite happy to purchase one, just wondered if the glider fraternity made their own.

Steve, Barry is totally right, the mpx release is superb and a great retro fit if your model is finished but lacking.

However, you'll need fine fishing trace to fit easily into the mpx release and you'll invariably lose it during the course of a tow event, so if you can, I'd go for something slightly bigger, make one yourself or a cam style, then you can borrow loops or make them on site out of strimmer line.
