Karakan tail skid

I am drawing a plan for the Karakan and have hit upon a problem. Later 3-views show the glider with a metal tail skid fastened onto the stub below the tail. I cannot find any evidence of that and a couple of early drawings do not show one. All I have to go off is this section of a photo which to my eyes shows what appears to be a rubber foot to the stub. Does anyone have any other interpretation?
